ethics

As a personal injury lawyer, I constantly battle against insurance companies who don’t seem to have the faintest idea what “ethical” means. My clients come to me saying their insurance company or the person at fault is refusing to pay for something they are legally bound to do – just because they know that 9 times out of 10, the client won’t question that the insurance company is denying a bill when they shouldn’t.

That’s unethical. It’s wrong. And I won’t stand for it.

When you become my client, it becomes my job to ensure that you are always treated fairly by everyone involved in your personal injury claim. That means your insurance company, the doctors who treated your injury, and of course, myself.

Above all else, it is important to me that my clients can trust my ethics. I’m the one fighting to see justice done on your behalf every day; you need to be able to trust that I know the difference between right and wrong.

That’s why I make all my clients the following promises:

I will not stand for others breaking legal promises they have made to you.

When your insurance company refuses to pay a claim they are liable for, I make sure they don’t get away with it. I make sure you are fully recompensed for that violation of your trust and your person. You should not have to fight for these people to fulfill their promises to you. They’re hoping you won’t fight, that you’ll just give up and walk away. You don’t have to give up, and you don’t have to fight. I’ll fight for you. And I will not stand for injustices done to you.

I will never give you anything less than the best of my ability.

You may have worked with other lawyers in the past who consider your problem to be just one more case in the file. They’re not actively neglecting you, but you certainly don’t get the impression they’re doing everything in their power to help, either. I think it’s a breach of personal ethics to give my clients anything less than my absolute best. I will fight tooth and nail to see you get the recompense you deserve for your trouble, and I will always give you my full attention when we discuss your case. I follow through, and I keep my word. When you work with me, you’ll be able to have faith in that promise.

I will not take on any client who is asking me to break or bend the law to their purposes.

You’ve heard the stories about people who claim to have found a finger in their can of Coke – only to be proven a fraud a few weeks later. I can’t tell you how many people contact me hoping that I can help them make a patently untrue case that lets them sue for millions. If that’s what you’re hoping to accomplish, I’m not your lawyer. I help people who have been hurt through someone else’s negligence. My clients are often battling people who have scads of lawyers willing to make a case they know is patently untrue. They do a lot of harm to innocent people in those cases. I will never be one of those lawyers.
